SUMMARY
In YEAR?, an MRE (Mine Risk Education) initiative raised awareness of the risks of unexploded devices left behind from wars, and developed the "Pikaboom" MRE board game.
BACKGROUND
After the war in 2006 and the large number of unexploded landmines left in its wake, interactive MRE material for children in Lebanon was very limited. The need for tools addressed to children of various age groups became more pressing under the circumstances.
In promoting this initiative, the LMRC (Land Mines Resource Center) in Lebanon sought to engage children in active participatory approaches to mine risk education so as to contribute to national efforts aiming at reducing casualties from unexploded cluster bombs, munitions, landmines, and other explosive remnants from the war.
OBJECTIVE(S)
Go in parallel with safety messages conveyed through MRE puppet shows developed by the LMRC to tour in partnership with the MRE National Committee on children in different areas of the South
